It’d be a shame not to live
To breathe in and out each new day
It’d be a shame not to give
The world your special purpose, gift
It’d be a shame not to be
One with earth’s great majesty
It’d be a shame not to see
From different ways, minds and meanings
It’d be a shame not to grow
Learn and lean toward sun and sky
It’d be a shame not to know
That love surrounds you here and now
Thanks for sharing your poem….which is very relatable. After reading this one, I was reminded of our “yay” moments this morning when Nathaniel found many grasshoppers at the YMCA field. He kept on telling me that he didn’t know that grasshoppers could fly!!! I just loved seeing him experience the world in his own way…and I wished that everyone would have a moment like this one….
Hi Laney! I’m so glad you enjoyed the poem and such a beautiful experience with your son! It is indeed amazing to witness that moment of discovery, joy, and awe of the simple, incredible wonders of our world. We’ve been treasuring a lot of those moments around here lately too, with my 3 stepsons. 🙂 Sending you a big hug always!
Many thanks to friend and author Cinda Brea for sharing my poem on her blog: http://www.cindabrea.com. And CONGRATS Cinda on the recent release of your second book!
All of your poems are heart felt. I love reading all of them!
Many thanks for reading Char! Sending you a hug and hope all is well!
