MAY THE SUN SET ON HATE, GREED & FEAR – By ElizaBeth Coira

May The Sun Set On Hate Greed & Fear_ElizaBeth Coira_HomeGrownSojourner

The sun has set
In so many ways
On rule
By the few

I wander through
So many parks
Palaces now open
To the tax-paying plenty

Reminders of
The spoils of kings
Tributes to
The remnants of war

A democratic
Society
Should protect the many
Nurture great growth

But when fueled by
Unfettered
Unchecked
Belief

Blind faith in the
Invisible
Guiding
Hand…

Would you turn a blind eye
To the priest
Raping
Your child

Why put
All your trust
In the market’s
Hand

Those Real hands
Are privileged
Powerful
Wealthy

We know
What it’s like
To serve only
A few

Masters
Manipulators
Sportsmen
Gaming

We should know better
By now
About games
Serving hate

They use us
As pawns
Mobilize our
Identities

Separate
To confine us
And subjugate

Identify
An enemy
To conceal
Their own greed

Then fatten us
On fear
A dash of
God’s need

By axe
Or sword
Gun
Or game

These agendas
Repeat cycles
Doom only
Our fates

So step up
And step out
Use Your power
For change

Embrace Love
As Your guide
Start change
From the inside
