ONE PEACE – By ElizaBeth Coira

One Peace
Many paths
The wind whispered
Through the trees
The birds sang
Our hearts rang
One with Love
Home again

It was my great honor to contribute this poem to the efforts of Spokane non-profit, One Peace Many Paths, for their 2016 Global Art Project for Peace. We convened this past Monday evening to play and create for peace; developing a collage book expressing our visions for global peace and goodwill. Our gift of global friendship will be exchanged with a participating community in Malaysia; under the auspices of the non-profit, Global Art Project for Peace. How exciting to take part, along with thousands of other people, to send messages of peace around the world, simultaneouslyContinue reading

SILENCE – By ElizaBeth Coira

It was not only International Day of the Forests, but also World Poetry Day woohoo! To celebrate both, thought I’d share one more love poem for my all-mighty Mother Nature before the stroke of midnight. Enjoy 💙🌲💙

ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner

When tickled
With bird song
And sunshine

Could there be
Any other
More divine

Away from the hustle
Bustle of busy
Traffic, pollution
Of mind

Sitting silently
Beneath the canopies
Of pine trees that love
To keep the peace

BREATHE – By ElizaBeth Coira

Happy International Day of Forests! I’m headed out for a hike; but before I go, thought I’d share this poem and photo from a hike last year through Germany’s Black Forest.

May we re-learn to honor, love, respect & cherish our most treasured symbiotic ally on the planet…

The trees breathe
And I may be

I breathe
And the trees be

A wonder

WILD WOMAN – By ElizaBeth Coira

Wild Woman_ElizaBeth Coira_HomeGrownSojourner

Wild woman
Wild hair
Let your wild flow

Golden curls roll like waves
Over tangled misbehaves

Wild woman bare your teeth
Let out your slow deep growl

Something’s lurking round about
Something’s stirring in and out

What oh what
What could it be

A beast
A ghost
A fantasy

Ears hear quiver
Body shivers
Lips snarl back
Fangs ready attack

Prepare to hunt
Confront the beast

But beast is She
And She is Me

Morning's Business_ElizaBeth Coira_HomeGrownSojourner

How glorious to witness the sun
kissing off Morning’s icy veil
what business behind the misty screen

How heavenly to twinkle in the early light
joining snow sheets
in their iridescent show

How serene to silently gaze and praise
the day with pines
as I too spread new roots

How luminous to inhale the bouquet of glow
where sun and sky flow
and earth melts into water
