LIGHT OF LOVE – By ElizaBeth Coira
May the light of Love fill us this holiday season 🙂
ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner
The light of love
To weather storms
Cleanse my mind
Hold my soul
It lives within
My gentle heart
I open up
To let me grow
Just like the tree
Full of knots
Battle haggard
Wounds and scars
I too will keep
Growing, stretching
Up to the light
Of mother sun
Inside I’ll keep
My fire burning
Feeding, learning
Hoping, healing
Rekindling
Rejuvenating
Now rise, renew
My nascent soul
A WEEKEND HIKE IN GERMANY – By ElizaBeth Coira
ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner
Everything is coming
And I am starting today
I go hike through forests, spanning mountains
Stretch out in a blanket of snow
Absorb the sun between gray clouds
Stumble, twist, turn through rocky trails
Stare awe-struck, dumb-founded at the mouth of a cave
Wondering what awaits us, on the inside
It’s shallow, carved out of a weathered white stone
House and host to wanderers, past and now
I wander down the path of mammoth hunters
Only to find the dominion of a king
Medieval ruins, knight’s follies
Haunted troughs, misty memories
The trees stand silent, guardians
Of earth and all our secrets
So many take their troubles to the forest
To re-emerge full of peace and serenity
I guess that’s what we’re doing here
Seeking peace, healing, piece of mind
A mind beyond time, beholden to none
We have much to learn in the trees
TIME – By ElizaBeth Coira
ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner
Shall I cross
To the great vast unknown
Take the next uncertain step
What if all I long for awaits
What if it all has been with me always
Time will order all things as it must
No longer my enslaver or enemy
No that was me
What I once chose as life
Thank god I woke up
I nearly missed this time
REMINDS ME – By ElizaBeth Coira
ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner
How many times
Have I sat at dock’s end
Thinking I’m alone
There’s no one home
Only to glance
Deep down past the surface
Witnessing the glimmering
Existence below
Reminds me
Love
It’s like that too
~
I wander a trail
Twisting, turning
Wondering how
I’ll make my way through
Only to find
Each step appears
From one step before
That wild flowers obscure
Reminds me
Love
It’s my path too
~
I dance in fields
Following the sun
Give thanks to roll
In the beauty all around
It nourishes, nurtures
All our lovely lives
All we have to do
Is open up our eyes
Reminds me
Love
It blooms in me too
~
I listen to the song
Of a funny little dove
Soaring high above
Petty squawks and squabbles
Wonder what it’s like
To be so uniquely free
To this bird’s mind
How must our world seem
Reminds…

BLOOM – By ElizaBeth Coira
NO MORE RESISTANCE – By ElizaBeth Coira
Looking back at this photo and poem I wrote in Sri Lanka in 2013…a time of transformation indeed! May summer’s sweet ease nourish & renew us all!
ElizaBeth Coira - The Home Grown Sojourner
No more resistance
To getting up
living
breathing
In and out
Slow release
From stress
anger
depression
Patience
And tolerance
Peace
Serenity
Respond
Not react
Restart this life
You are free to be as you please
Crawl with the ants
Shine with the sun
Listen with the moon
Lean with the trees
Bloom with the flowers
Float butterfly
Transform
Begin anew

STRENGTH – By ElizaBeth Coira
So many assaults & insults these days…demonization & direct attacks…aimed at we the common folk…greed is a poison we could do without my friends
#justsaynotogreed

How shall we invite
One another
To hold on
To the good
Glow inside
Not one of us goes
A day with escape
From choices
Encounters
That suggest otherwise
But Love is powerful
Kindness is wise
Step into your strength
Open fresh eyes
To a new day
New world
Possibilities
Paradise
Right here
In the now
Our planet provides
What we all
Indeed need
But greed
Is a poison
We could do
Without
