Mama why do you hurt
Mama why do you cry
Mama why do you tremble
Is it possible…have I finally sucked you dry

Mama why do you stare
With eyes blazing like the sun
Mama why do you care
Still for me, who’s nearly undone

All sense of your order
Delicate balance
Bountiful baskets
Of beautiful life

Your infinite wisdom
Love, patience, care
Disregarded too long
We must rise to the change

For worship of stories
–egos–men’s saviors
Has yielded too little
Love
–Interconnection

Why not let us burn
No, your cool rain still comes
Cleanses and nurtures
We are never alone

Or too far from your reach
Forgiveness and Love
All possible in
Your great blue embrace

So today I thank you — Mama
For all of my life
Without you I am nothing
But a forgotten dream

Good morning sunshine
At the dock’s end
Lakeside, Bird
Squawk-click-and-quack-side

A bright clear day
By the water Blue
Painting all
Within and Without

The loving colors
Of my real life
Mother Nature
Fills me full

As do wafts of
Water-kissed air
Gentle waves rock
And hold my soul

In this suspended
Ethereal existence
Like dreaming
Of All
Possibilities
Yes

This is the flow
The plane I have heard of
My prayers have been answered
May all dis-ease cease

Obligation
Responsibility
To put on
A pretty face for you

Simply because I’m a woman

As though my life
Weren’t meant for more
Than the shadowy
Fantasies
Of others

As though my life
Weren’t my own
Beyond what a man
Would pay for

No my friends
That moment has passed
Of social sickness
Putrid illness

At least in my mind
But what’s true for you
Do you buy and consume
The old bloody ruse
